[In-er-tia]
Inertia is the name for the tendency of an object in motion to remain in motion, or an object at rest to remain at rest, unless acted upon by a force. As is summarized in Newton's first law of motion: Every body continues in its state of uniform motion in a straight line, or in its state of rest, unless it is compelled to change that state by forces impressed upon it.
